Your Orbit
I thought that it would be
Enough to be in your orbit
Like a distant star
Created to protect you from harm
There’s a door between us
That we chose to open
Even when the ground underneath
Was likely to crumble
The door in my heart wanted to remain closed
Because the empty dark rooms
I found myself inside were what I was used to
But the heart grew tired
For it wanted to expand
The door broke open
The dam collapsed
And my words flowed like a river that was finally able to move freely
I realized that I was always meant to dance with you
Close enough to where our hearts
Felt safe enough to unravel themselves
And bask in the warmth of the sun
