Wrapped in your lips,
I see the truth,
A glowing lamp post in the night,
Loneliness is a labyrinth
Loneliness is like the puppeteer
Dragging you along a desolate valley
As you feel the cracks of the ground
Scratch up your knees
But one day
A pair of scissors threatens to cut the strings
And you cry out to nothing
As two sides begin to emerge
The side that clings to loneliness
And the side that despises it
So much it feels suffocating
Your throat dries up
An instinctual craving
That almost feels natural
Like how the body yearns for water
Loneliness wants to be loved
Wants someone to pay attention
To the hole in its heart
Is there a limit?
Maybe a threshold exists
Where it feels colder
To be in someone's arms
Rather than to be alone
The chill never leaves
And the world feels like a distorted daze
Just waiting for the darkness
to take control
Decoding your world
You tell a story in your expression
A reality we briefly shared
But yours was in color
While mine feels like a brush stroke in black ink
But once you spread open the dark clouds,
I could see you clearly
And your heart wasn't made out of plastic
But the ocean itself,
Calm on the surface
Yet waves roared on
Without care
Innocence loses its footing
And the heat breaks past the barrier
Known as selfishness
Rebellion licks my skin
Rebellion licks my skin
Until I feel the inner heat
Course across my veins
And I realize the rebellion
Was the door I needed to open
To listen to the whispers of my soul
To wear the crown
Shaped like my heart
Rebellion licks my skin
A clear thrill
Not to erase an empty void
But to shatter the performative glass
I stood behind
And I didn't even notice
Until I felt the flames
Burn away a version of me
You are the bridge
I tried to find the shape of you in the dark
But your armor felt like I was touching fire
And I couldn't get close enough
To feel comfortable in your silence
Somewhere
Between the past and the present,
I could hear the echoes of your ancestors
Knocking against the walls
Of your self made fortress
You couldn't hear how loud
Their fists banged at the doors
Until you sunk into yourself
And you let the river guide you
Prickly Darkness
The darkness can consume the heart
Slowly like a rose withering away
It stands in the corner breathing heavy
Until it runs out of patience
Asserting dominance over the ones who hold light
Within the darkness
Prickly vines grow
Reaching out to strike it's target
And strangle the ones not deemed worthy
They feel the prick of every vine touching their skin
And a strange fire sets them aflame
Until the pain is no longer just pain
But tilting on the edge of pleasure
Imprinted on the skin
Marks the moment
Where eternal becomes physical
