Running from discomfort
Dopamine trains the brain
To lock you in a perpetual cage of suffering
You search for the wings of freedom
But you cannot fly with cloudy eyes
And you cannot fight without armor
The tide goes in and out
Discomfort touches your toes
And it feels like ice cold water
But you run
Once you feel the cold biting your feet
You don't let it settle in your bones
Enough to make your body shake
You pull away from yourself
You walk away from your own body
To seek out the dumpster of distractions
Being thrown at you
Just so you cannot fully feel
The discomfort
The body's intelligence woven with the soul
Connection is sacred responsibility
But yet it's so easy
To let yourself sink into the facade
There's countless hands
Leaning into the pit
Waiting for you grab ahold of them
But discernment is the only way
You can actually escape the abyss
