Graceful Facade
A secret hidden inside of a cracked door,
A troubling shadow looms over my shoulder
Left to figure out if what I feel is love
Or desire dressed up in a costume,
Meant to fool me again
I let the voices in my head
Downplay the violence
Because violence was the environment
I was pulled into without warning,
And true affection wasn't an option
It was easier to tremble under your touch
While swimming in a sea of tethered flames
Mistaking it for love
Your haven was a graceful facade
That slowly lured me
With an undertone of hope
That my past could be erased
But your hands circled my throat,
The world went black
And the building burned down
